Just got back from the Lion King. It was a pretty spectacular show, with some pretty fancy constume work. Anyway I haven’t blogged for a while. The party was good on the weekend, also bought a bike for Mel too. Anyway I’m on holiday’s from tomorrow evening, so I’m pretty excited about that.. haven’t had any time off for 9 months. So that’ll be good. I’ll and get a bit more blogging done (or maybe, as Slashdot.org has announced, I should be Vlogging, as this seems to be the new Hip thing to do.)

Apache and PHP
Sunday, December 11th, 2005I’ve been trying to replicate my peterdamen.com website on my home machine, but cant access the MySQL functions that I use for this blog, because they’re not included in my PHP apache module. After stuffing around a bit, I recompiled apache and the PHP module to include the mysql functions it was missing. It all compiled ok, but it was acting really strange, so I have just reverted back to my old version of apache and php. My commandline version of PHP seems to have all the correct modules installed so I might just have to put all my PHP scripts in the CGI directory to get them to work properly. Something else thats annoying me at the moment is Google. They haven’t cached peterdamen.com since July, since before I put this blog on here. I was hoping that this blog might increase my chances of beating those dutch Fly-Fishermen when doing a search for “Peter Damen” on google, but thats never going to happen at this rate.
Glenn hates you.
Saturday, December 10th, 2005Lachlan, Glenn hates you because you bagged him on your blog. Because he was only “useful” to know and that you didn’t really like him. Here
PS: Glenn thinks you are gay.
Dual Head + 1 = Triple Head
Thursday, December 8th, 2005I have acquired my 3rd 19inch SUN monitor, So I am nearly ready to setup my 3 screens in linux. I going to add an old PCI VGA as the third card in my system, it think its a Diamond 64 or something. Hope fully i’ll be able to set it up ok in-line with the Radeon that i’m currently running in Big Desktop mode, with the linux Radeon drivers. Should be good when and if I get it all going. I’m going to have to rearrange my desk so much to fit my third 19inch CRT on it, I think I’ll make a big move and cleanup my entire study. Mels been thinking about moving her desk in here too. I might have to move some of the 8 computer cases I have in here out to the garage.
Woes
Tuesday, December 6th, 2005ConnectedHosting seems to be causing more mass migration from its server. I found out that another two full paying customers were locked out of their account within the last week, whom are now happily migrated to Cats. It seems those guys have a real problem operating a hosting business, and replying to support email.
OK, I’m Blogging
Monday, December 5th, 2005Its been a while since I last blogged. Had a very eventful weekend. Yesterday was Steve and Danni’s engagement party. Because everyone decided to give a decent present for this party, unlike our engagement party, Mel and I were determined to still get some dodgey presents. So we went to SexyLand. After sizing up a whole lot of dildos, we decided to just get a book (I think it was called “How to Drive Her Wild”), a candy G-string (which looked like it would fit Steve better than Danni) and some chocolate stuff in a Dick shaped dispenser. We tried to stay in the shop as short as possible, and we were relieved when we finally paid and left. We then went to Devos fire station and packaged all the crap into a box with two monkeys and some other junk. We then had dinner at the Town Hall in North Melbourne with Devo, Justin and Kate. And then it was off to the party. We were Hip late. Even later than Tom. I drank a few Becks and talked to a few people I hadn’t seen for a while, and all was good. Unfortunately the polystyrene-noodle-things that we packaged our monkeys in went all over the floor, causing headaches for people who were dancing. Any way the party was good, and all had a great time. Today my sister had a Tupperware party, so Mel and I went into the city for that. I dropped her off and went round to Rebecca and Richards place. They are renavating a small decrepid house in Yarraville. Looks like they’ve done a fair bit, but it looks like they’ve still got a bit to do. I sat out the remainder of the tupperware party by watching the Island with them, before returning to the party to pick up Mel. Oh, I also got a nice 19 inch CRT from Rebecca and Richard. Hopefully I can swap it my dads SUN 19″ so I can have 3 matching monitors in tri-view. Sweet.
The Laptop Lives
Thursday, December 1st, 2005Yesterday I got my new Laptop battery in the mail. WhooHoo. That means my laptop no longer has to be plugged in to work. So it journeyed with me to work today. I have installed Eclipse and DBVisualiser on there but I think it might struggle to run those apps. I also installed the Linux version of LimeWire. I downloaded that Pussy Cat Dolls video clip and played it back in Xine. It worked pretty well. So now I just need to get Tomcat and Postgres on to my laptop and i’ll be ready to code. Don’t worry, I didn’t forget to include the compulsory “I hate Windows” wallpaper either.
