Snakes on a Plane

Tuesday, March 28th, 2006

Well, the Commonwealth Games are over and Melbourne has returned to normal. I was out on Saturday night with Tom, Paulius and Chook, at the container pub, and there was a Kenyan gold medalist getting some attention from a little blonde chick. That was pretty much the extent of my Commonwealth Games experience. Anyway, other news is that Fedora Core 5 is now installed on my computer. It was a nice easy install, and seems to be running fairly stable. This last weekend I also purchased a new suit, so that I can look as much like Troy as possible. I also managed to get my Camelback and my bike fixed. My Camelback had been damaged in a rock climbing expedition, the mouth piece got caught in a crevice and broke. My bikes front wheel quick release axle was destroyed as I tried to put the wheel back on after a service at the local bike shop. Mel and I also purchased a automatic garage door opener, we have yet to install it, but it should mean we get a bit more use out of garage. While out on Saturday I also learned about Nathan Phillip’s new movie with Samuel L Jackson, “Snakes on a Plane”. Check out the details here. Funny Stuff.

Where the bloody hell is Fedora Core 5?

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

Well it has been the 20th of March here in the eastern hemisphere for 23 hours, and there has been no sign of Fedora Core 5. Hopefully the next 12 hours will be more fruitful. I am giddy with apprehension. No really, I am. Anyway, the more exciting news is that peterdamen.com is number 1 in google search for ‘peter damen’. BAM. I also discovered that Ebay has some really cheap flash cards. I saw a 4 gig MMC on there for $145, crazy cheap. This could come in handy if I am ever successful at winning one of those SD cameras on Ebay. Maybe if this was a world famous blog Panasonic would just give me one. Its up to you people to tell people about peterdamen.com so I can get a free video camera. This isn’t going to happen.. is it.

Howdy Ho. A lot has happened the few weeks since I blogged last. Unfortunately I didn’t win my SD Camera on Ebay, it went up in price by $70 in the last 20 seconds. Even though it only went for $US 250 in the end. I’m kicking myself I didn’t “Buy it now” for $US 200. Theres another one up for auction now anyway. However I did just win my first auction on Ebay the other night. I picked up 256MB for my Sun Ultra 10 for $20. I am still waiting for that to arrive. Last weekend Troy returned for a weekend of fun. We hang out at St Jeromes on Saturday and had some beers. Before that Mel and I had dinner with Dan, Lauren and Andrew. We sat out on the back patio and had dinner, and got eaten by mozzies. In other exciting news, Fedora Core 5 will be out in 5 days. It was supposed to come out today but has been delayed due to bugs in memory allocation and the new version of Gnome. I’ve also been organising a xbox party for the start of April whcih should be good, as we haven’t one for a while. Time to start practicing Ghost Recon and V8 Supercars again.

Business Cards and Man Diary and Troy

Friday, March 3rd, 2006

Steve and I received our new business cards yesterday. After 3 years we have been honoured with our requests for business cards. And boy are they cool. I have already given 4 away, only 400 to go. In other news, Troy has broken up with his girl friend and is making his slow return to Melbourne from Sydney via the Canadian and South American ski seasons. It’ll be good to have him back, add that Troy ZING and BAM back into life. His metrosexual protoge, Nick, will be glad to see him back too. I would also like to Boo to Al and Milk for their comments about keeping a “Man Diary” on the internet and hinting that I was a homosexual.
