Blackwood to Bacchus Marsh Overnight

Friday, April 21st, 2006

Monday night Devo, Paulius and I walked from Blackwood to Bacchus Marsh from 8:30 at night until 6:30 in the morning. The first few hours were windy and rainy. Paulius navigated and made us walk a few more kilometres than we really had to, but he navigated well when the track ended in the darkness. At about 3am the rain stopped and the clouds lifted, and with a near full moon we were able to walk without our headlamps on. My GPS rang out of batteries about 3 times, it ran out at about 23km. We probably walked another 23km after the batteries went. After the first few hours of my body reacting weirdly to the hours of walking, a hangover and the green slime in my camel back, I finally came good, apart from the tendons in my knees aching like hell. Danielle picked us up in the morning and all was good. She drove us home, where I slept for 3 hours before attempting to make pumpkin soup. Unfortunately I only had my phone with me, so I could only take low-res pictures, here they are anyway.

Big Wedding

Monday, April 17th, 2006

Danni and Steve got married on Saturday night, in a wonderful ceremony at the Victoria Gardens. It was followed by a reception at NGV in a hip little function room behind the gallery. It was a great reception and the bottomless wine glass got the better of me and I became very drunk and loud, of which I will be forever ashamed. Sunday was completely written off by hangover, and even this morning I am still feeling a little dodgey. This evening I will be embarking on a journey with Paulius and Devo, hiking through the night from Blackwood to Bacchus Marsh, along the Lerderderg River, hopefully we will survive and wont fall into any abandoned mine shafts.

New News

Its been a while since I blogged. In the last few weeks I have successully purchased a RAM only video camera off ebay, I am still waiting for it to arrive. I also purchased a 4 gig MMC card on ebay, for the camera that I bought. I also got some new RAM for my SPARC Ultra 10. Last weekend was also my Xbox party, which was attended by 9 Xboxees. We played V8 Supercars 2 and Ghost Recon 2, which are both fun in multiplayer. Dan and Lauren have announced their move to Brisbane following a new job offer for Lauren. It’ll be sad to see them go. But the most exciting news of all is that it has started snowing on the Victorian Alps for the first time this year, and it looks like its going to be a bumper season; Check out the photos below from Wednesday at Mt Hotham.
