Last weekend consisted of buying appliances for our new kitchen, playing poker and installing ubuntu. Mel and I bought a dishwasher, oven, cooktop and range hood for about $3000. We should be getting our kitchen installed in October sometime. Saturday, Troy was down from Sydney. We got together with Troja, Snowy and Steve and played some Texas hold’em at Steve’s in Sunbury. It was the first time I had played poker, and it was pretty good fun, I won a few hands. Mel came round too, and won the game. Sunday I started the transistion from Fedora Core 5 to Ubuntu. Ubuntu seems to just work. I’ve decided that I am over the challenge of getting things to work on Fedora Core and that I should be more focused on getting things done, rather than getting my operating system to work properly. Ubuntu updates seem to be more stable. Fedora Core kernel updates seem to keep breaking configurations, especially with display settings. I have now converted most of my existing setup over to Ubuntu, including my webserver, cvs repositry and samba services. It is all good. I have also finished editing video from last weeks snow trip.
