Mel and I have a new kitchen. Bewyeah. It was hot here this weekend. It got to 45 degrees on my little thermometer in the backyard. The whole of Victoria has been covered in smoke because of the bushfires that are burning up in the High Country. We’ve been seeing some spectacular sunsets with blood-red suns. For some crazy reason I decided to run Cat 5 cable through the roof. It was about 80 degrees up in the roof. I could only go up there from a few minutes at a time before coming back down dripping in sweat. Other exciting news is that I finally sold my video camera on ebay. The trick is to describe your item as little as possible. There seemed to be a lot more interest in the camera when there was a shorter description, compared to when I had as much information as possible. I also quit my Telstra mobile phone plan and got on to a (Hutchinson) 3 plan. Unfortunately I don’t have 3 coverage at home, it roams on to the Telstra GSM network. I’ve also got a 3 mobile broadband account attached to my phone. I think it works out to be 10 cents per megabyte or something, and $1 per megabyte when roaming on the Telstra network. Which is way better than the $20 per megabyte that I used to have on my CDMA account. My new phone is a Nokia 6288, not sure how sturdy the design is, but its got some cool features.. a 2 megapixal camera, 640×480 video capture, Mp3 playback, a 320×240x15bit screen. I’ve got my Ubuntu laptop talking to it via bluetooth to access the packet network. I rang up 3 support for help to get it working. Mention the word “linux” and they don’t want talk to you. Those bastards.
