Kayaking

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

It was pub night tonight. We all decided that it might be a cool idea to go kayaking together one day. I’m looking at possibly purchasing a sit on top oceankayak. In other pub news: Burgers has got a new place and Milk is jealous, because he sleeps in his lounge room. This saturday I am checking out another Defender – one of the two I can afford that are in Victoria. Theres another one in Brisbane i’d like to check out; I might get my uncle to check it out for me.

Some interesting stuff: We put some job ads up on the Internet today at work. Graduate Java Developer positions. Surprisingly we had a applicant with a phD in computer science apply, but possibly with little industry experience. I’d probably actually be kind of scared interviewing some with that much certification.

Oh, and I kind of feel slightly remorseful about bagging that guy in my previous post. He actually read it and sent me an email. It was actually a pretty nice email considering; Thanking me for my help. Oh well.

Weirdos and Stuff

So, you’ve down loaded some free software off the Internet.. Maybe an AJAX Remote Desktop viewer. And you can’t get it to run. Do you 1) Read the instructions 2) Email the author and ask how it works? or 3) Look up the author on Skype and see if they have their mobile phone listed and ring that?.. So I got a call from some weirdo in New Zealand who decided that he had to talk to me, there and then, to help him get my AJAX Remote Desktop viewer working on his computer, so he could deploy it on to his (Internet) girlfriend’s computer, to see what she was doing. I helped him get it running on his computer and I told him it really
couldn’t be deployed on to his girlfriends computer. He asked me if I knew how I could hack into his girlfriends computer, and install it.. I said I didn’t.. which could be wrong. And then he asked me if I knew anyone who could, I said I didn’t, which could also be wrong. Anyway he then proceeded to tell me that the NZ telecommunication authority has framed him for making 3000 emergency calls. Anyway read it here

It’s been a while since I blogged.. In the last month, we’ve had Mels parents come and stay with us, and help us renovate and garden a little. The house is looking a little better. Did a bit of climbing with Paulius, attempting to lead climb the Camels Hump..We even bought a bit more gear. Mel and I went down the beach and were contemplating buying some land down there…it was pretty cheap.. (about $45000). My sister came back from UK engaged to Butters, showing off her huge diamond. Mel’s back at work this week, and I think this is the first whole week I have worked since mid-December. Anyway, sorry I haven’t blogged for so long. I’ll try to be a bit more regular.
